All at once James plunged out of the sky toward the sea. He took a deep breath and felt his worst fears come to pass as he fell into the deep ocean. James thought he would drown.

Opening his eyes, James saw a fish grinning at him.

“You are a Teddy Bear—why are you here in the sea? I am a fish and I’m very fast.” The little fish started to swim off.

“Wait!” James called.

“Can’t. If I stay talking to you, I will surely wind up as a big fish’s dinner or a seagull’s stew.”

Just then, a big friendly green turtle swam up to James. “What is a Teddy Bear doing at the bottom of the ocean?”

James decided to be polite and use his manners. “A wind swept me off our roof and carried me through the sky until I fell into the sea. I need your help to get out.”

“Hop on my back! I will give you a ride to the beach. Put your arms around my neck and hold on tight!”

The turtle swam so fast that James felt like he was flying again. He rode to shore on the turtle’s back and thanked him for the ride.
